Grand Island, NE —

Originally the Myers brothers grew up in Western Nebraska, but as life happens, their adult and professional lives took them away from their hometown of Bayard.  Chuck Myers became a pastor in small parishes in Central Nebraska and enjoys woodworking in his spare time.  Bryan, the youngest of the three, is a Physician Assistant in Stromsburg.  And Larry Myers, my informant, lived in Colorado and became interested in woodworking as a hobby. He's applying his background experiences in sales and management to their budding business.

Throughout their adulthood Chuck, Bryan, and Larry hung on to one plan and knew that eventually they'd have their own woodworking business. However, because of homes and lives in 3 different locations they weren't sure when or where their dream would materialize.  Then about seven years ago Larry, wife Tracy and family, moved to Central City to be closer to ailing parents.

It just so happened that Central City put him in the center of his family, a gift that pleased them all. Finally settled and in close proximity, they spent 6 months  putting their unique plan together. Larry explained that their ideas for 'Myers Custom Interiors and Woodworkers' may present new concepts as the trio wants a visit to their shop to feel like "going home." Their work space will be divided into two parts with half as the workshop and the remainder will be the showroom.  They envision the showroom will look like a home with a kitchen, living room, library, and the like.  The idea is that each venue will introduce customers to the quality and variety of items that can be built by the Myers brothers.

Larry reported that although the showroom isn't quite ready for action they have already begun several custom building projects in the area.  Myers shared that he and his siblings can build anything for inside the home. Some things they build, but are not limited to, are fireplace mantles, entertainment centers, kitchens and decorative beams.  All their projects are specialty items and built to order using a wide variety of fine custom woods for the home. Larry added, "If you appreciate custom or nice quality work,  like in the early 1900's," then Myers Custom Interiors and Woodworks is the place for you.

Although May 1, 2008 was their official opening at 1600 16th Street in Central City, they are currently working on the newly purchased space and the physical plant will be finished gradually over the next few months. In the meantime the men are already meeting with interested customers to discuss the projects they have in mind.  Larry will manage sales and design ideas for the business, so don't hesitate to call him at 308-940-1537 to set up an appointment to make your own dream come true.

You can tell when you chat with them that Larry and his brothers are very excited that their dream is truly taking shape. Larry shared that the guiding principles for 'Myers Custom Interiors and Woodworkers' are based on their "strong Christian upbringing and relationship with the Lord," where, "Excellence honors God and reflects His character."  Hence, you can surely plan on the Myers family to "do things with excellence and serve people with what we do," as Larry promises. Go ahead, give them a try!
